WOMEN’S RODEO WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP ANNOUNCES KEY APPOINTMENTS TO THE COMPETITION COMMITTEE
Today, Women’s Rodeo World Championship Commissioner Linsay Rosser-Sumpter announced her selection of WRWC Athletes she has appointed to serve as additional members on the WRWC Competition Committee:
Lori Diodosio (Fowler, CO) – Barrel Racing
Tibba Smith (Hobbs, NM) – Barrel Racing and Breakaway Roping
Tyra Kane (Weatherford, TX) – Barrel Racing
Debbie Fabrizio (Pueblo, CO) – Team Roping and Breakaway Roping
Taylor Engesser (Spearfish, SD) – Team Roping and Breakaway Roping
The WRWC Competition Committee will serve as an advisor to the WRWC Commissioner on matters relating to competition rules and protocols in addition to working closely with WRWC Staff to maximize athletes experience at the event and collaborate on ideas to increase opportunities.
“The current competition committee has worked with athletes and made progress in many areas of the event to ensure that all the right actions have been taken,” said Sumpter. “The additions to the committee will give even more opportunities for WRWC athletes voices to be heard. The Individuals appointed to this committee reflect the diversity of the WRWC and have the experience and vision for continued growth and opportunities for women in rodeo.”
The WRWC is the largest annual purse for a women’s rodeo event and will payout more than $750,000 in 2022 while crowning both Pro and Challenger World Champions in the Women’s Rodeo disciplines, each earning an additional $5,000 bonus; Team Roping, Breakaway Roping and Barrel Racing. An all-around champion will also be crowned and awarded a $20,000 bonus. In addition, the Triple Crown of Rodeo round champions will earn $60,000 each. WRWC is a culmination of a year-long race of women’s rodeo events worldwide. Athletes qualify for the WRWC by earning points and leaderboard positions using the VRQ (Virtual Rodeo Qualifier). The 2022 championship event will take place at the historic Cowtown Coliseum May 16-18. All information can be found at wrwc.rodeo.
