Dear WRWC Cowgirls,
As I look back on the past two weeks and reflect on this year’s Women’s Rodeo World Championship, I think about some of our most significant milestones:
- WRWC Championship Round broadcasting live on CBS Sports
- WRWC Championship Round competition live inside AT&T Stadium in front of 30,000 people
- $3.75 million has been paid out over five years
- Titos partnered with us to bring you the most extravagant Welcome Gala
- Cowgirl Magazine partnered to bring you a beautiful Back Number ceremony
- National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame and Pam Minick helped us elevate the Pam Minick Lifetime Achievement Award by awarding it to Reba McEntire.
- A total of 20 sponsors came on board to elevate WRWC this year.
- APHA and Cowgirl Gathering helped us offer the Last Chance Qualifier at Will Rogers, which was an incredible competition.
It was an impressive week of action-packed activities and the best women’s rodeo competition our industry has seen. Congratulations to all of our Challengers for your remarkable competition, and major kudos to Makenzie Mayes for breaking the WRWC arena record with an impressive time of 12.946. Martha Angelone dominated the Breakaway Roping again by clinching her second All-Around World Championship and her third Breakaway World Championship.
I hope you all enjoyed the week as much as we did. It was our goal to ensure you were celebrated for your accomplishments in qualifying for the WRWC and competing at this equal-money rodeo.
For any live event, we always face obstacles. Our team will address these obstacles for next year. Some of these improvements include the ground quality at AT&T Stadium, our calves’ conditioning, instant replay rules, and the overall clarity of our ground rules. Our team will send out a survey in the next 24 hours, and we ask that you take the time to complete it to ensure we address any areas of improvement for next year.
For 2025, we have created a foundation for growth by launching the Women’s Rodeo Championship. The WRC will become the backbone for all WRWC elements and beyond. ID cards have been developed to allow us to identify all cowgirl classifications further and offer WRC packages with excellent incentives at multiple events throughout the United States.
This foundation has made many big announcements, including our new media deal with Merit Media. If you missed this announcement, you can view it HERE. We are also excited about the Kimes Ranch Million Dollar Breakaway Challenger Incentive that will be offered during the November 28 event. You can read all of the details about this opportunity HERE.
All of our growth and success is attributed to each of you, and we recognize that these expansions wouldn’t be possible without your support of the Women’s Rodeo Championship!
Thank you again for participating in our 2024 event. We are looking forward to what’s to come in 2025! Have a safe summer rodeo season! Score sharp and run fast!
Sincerely,
Linsay Rosser Sumpter
WRWC Commissioner
